I have titled this chapter of my life “Into the Wild”. I have recently graduated from college and been thrown into the “real world”. While most people around me are chasing 9-5 jobs, I have accepted a much different job. I feel blessed, honored and humbled to have been offered a job with Young Life working in Brussels, Belgium. I am leaving behind the safeties of the life I have known going into the wild. Fighting for kids to know the name of Jesus. The wild unknown of a place where being a Christian is not the norm. Into the wild and striving to draw closer to Jesus every day.
I have been involved with Young Life since high school, and I am super passionate about their misson. Young Life is about relational ministry. This is especially true in Brussels. I will be working with Third Culture Kids, kids who are raised in a culture that is not their parents. Often times they are very transient, living in a community for only a few years before moving again. In talking to TCKs in Brussels, they said that one of the hardest things about living abroad is the lack of community. I pray that Young Life can be used to create a Christ centered community in a country that is not religious.
Though Young Life Belgium is similar to Young Life in the United States, with Club, Campaigners and Contact work being at the forfront of the ministry, these look different. Club is much more community focused. Contact work and Campaigners are done with kids from all around the world. Young Life in Brussels is truely for everyone, from everywhere, and I am blessed to be a part of it.
I can not get to Brussels alone. My goal is to leave for Europe on Febuary 1st, and to do so I need to be 100% funded. Please prayerfully consider joining me for this life changing journey. I would love to meet and connect with you and share with you about this crazy journey.
